Important Information

Ans: Applications can be submitted within six months, no later than fifteen calendar days before the intended visit starts.

For sailors during the performance of their duties, within nine months before the intended visit starts.

VISA application fee

The fee is payable in Euro at the exchange rate fixed monthly by the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus.

The visa fee is non-refundable in the event of a visa refusal.

Since June 2014, Cyprus has recognized valid, double/multiple-entry Category C Schengen Visas as equivalent to its national visa for transit or stays not exceeding 90 days within any 180-day period.

Furthermore, third-country nationals (non-EU) who hold a valid Category D visa or residence permit from any European Union member state (except the UK and Ireland) or a Schengen country may enter Cyprus without an additional visa, provided they meet the following conditions:

  • Possess a valid passport or other travel document.
  • Can confirm the purpose of their travel and their accommodation in Cyprus.
  • Have sufficient funds for their stay and for returning to their country of permanent residence.
  • Are not on the list of persons prohibited from entering the Republic of Cyprus.

The duration of stay may not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.

An exception to this rule applies to citizens of the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan, who must obtain a national Cyprus visa to enter the country.

Applicants shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death. The insurance shall be valid in Cyprus and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000. Applicants are requested not to submit Travel Medical Insurance from companies that are under the EU sanctions regime.

Ans: There is nο appointment system. Walk in only.

Ans: The general deadline for a decision is a maximum of 15 days, which may be extended up to a maximum of 45 days in individual cases, notably where further scrutiny of the application is needed.

Ans: In case of refusal, the applicant is informed about the decision and the reasons on which it is based in writing. The applicant has the right to lodge an appeal at the Administrative Court of the Republic of Cyprus, under article 146 of the Constitution, within 75 days from the date they received the notification form.

Ans: If the visa application is refused, the consular authority will notify you in writing of the reasons for refusal. The refusal of a visa application is an individual administrative act. The form notifying you of the refusal of your application contains the necessary information on the complaint procedure.

Ans: Mere possession of a visa shall not confer an automatic right of entry. Border authorities at the entry points of the Republic of Cyprus reserve the right to refuse entry.

Ans: Please note that under certain conditions, family members of EU/EEA citizens are subject to the favorable arrangements of the Free Movement Directive and you may be served directly at the Consulate and as a priority when applying for a visa, submit fewer supporting documents and not pay a visa fee.

In particular, this will apply, as long as you can answer in the affirmative to all of the following questions:

A) Is there an EU citizen who exercises the right to free movement and from whom the visa applicant derives any rights?

B) Does the visa applicant fall under the definition of a family member?

C) Does the visa applicant accompany or go to meet the EU citizen
