Applying for a visa - VISA APPLICATION GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
(only for individuals that have already been approved by the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus)
- Submitted passports must be recognised by the Republic of Cyprus and meet the following criteria: (a) its validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of Cyprus (b) it shall contain at least two blank pages; (c) it shall have been issued within the previous 10 years. Visa Application form duly completed and signed by the applicant with contact details (parents or legal guardian in case of minors).
- A recent passport-sized(3.5cm x 4.5cm)photograph must be affixed to the ICAO entry visa application
- Round trip tickets with fixed dates. Tickets should not be purchased before the visa is issued.
- National passport ;(a) Valid for at least three months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for; (b) A copy of the passport, including first and last pages and all pages bearing visas or stamps; (c)if the applicant has an old passport, this needs to be presented as well (original and copy, including first and last pages and all pages bearing visas or stamps).
- Hukou (only for Chinese nationals) Copy of “Hukou” (all information pages) and English translation; And original residence permit, copy of this and translation in English, if different from Hukou. Foreign nationals who live in China must present the “Residence Permit of China” valid for at least six months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for.
- Immigration Permit: Original Immigration Permit under Category A, B, C, D, E, or F, or under Regulation 6(2) issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus or a letter (original or copy) from the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus stating that the applicant’s application for Immigration Permit has been approved. If the immigration permit you are providing belongs to your spouse or parent, please also submit: (Original or Copy of) Apostilled Marriage certificate, Copy of marriage certificate if married in Cyprus. If married in any other European country, duly legalized copy of marriage certificate.
- An all risk valid medical insurance policy (of at least €30.000-coverage) covering the whole duration of the stay in Cyprus must be submitted. No deductibles (no excess). If applicant’s current health insurance policy covers medical emergencies abroad, proof thereof is required in writing – copy of insurance card is not sufficient. Otherwise a traveler’s insurance policy will need to be purchased. A letter from the insurance company covering medical expenses, including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation (transportation) to the home country/country of residence, stating the name of the person, the policy number, the period of cover and the medical coverage.
- If the applicant is a minor, an unabridged birth certificate must be apostilled. Certificate of permission to travel When the minor is travelling with one parent only: Original passport and certificate of permission to travel from the parent, or legal guardian not travelling, clearly stating the passport number, destination, purpose of travel and time period for which the permission is granted. Minor is not allowing to travel alone. The Certificate of permission to travel must be signed and legalized at the Embassy of Cyprus in China. (when the parent is not in China, the Certificate of Permission needs to be attested by the relevant authorities in the country of residence).

The applicant is hereby informed that submitting the above-mentioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of a visa. In addition, the Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus retain the right to cancel, or reduce at the points of entry the duration of stay of any visa, informing the visa holder accordingly.
Photo specifications
Two [2] photographs of passport style and size [35mm x 45mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
- COLOR PHOTO (passport-size 35mm x 45mm)
- Photograph without specs.
- Face 70-80% of the height of the photo.
- taken without headgear
- head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
- taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.
Processing time
Schengen rules allow for a 15-calendar day processing time that may be extended up until 45 calendar days
