Applying for a visa - VISA APPLICATION GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Submitted passports must be recognised by the Republic of Cyprus and meet the following criteria: (a) its validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of Cyprus (b) it shall contain at least two blank pages; (c) it shall have been issued within the previous 10 years. Visa Application form duly completed and signed by the applicant with contact details (parents or legal guardian in case of minors).
- A recent passport-sized(3.5cm x 4.5cm)photograph must be affixed to the ICAO entry visa application
- Round trip tickets with fixed dates. When applying for a multiple entry visa: Reservation of the first visit. Tickets should not be purchased before the visa is issued.
- Prepaid hotel reservation with the name of the applicant and the confirmation dates of stay. In addition, If you own a property in Cyprus, you will reside at your private residence during your trip, please provide the property-ownership certificate.
- Travel program: Documents providing clear evidences about the applicant’s travel program (transportation booking, itinerary, etc).
- Applicant's bank statements for the past three months. Proof of solvency of the employing company, if the company pays the costs of travel and living; or Proof of the applicant’s personal solvency, in case personally covering the costs of travel and living. Credit card statements and deposits are not considered a sufficient proof of solvency.
- A recent (less than 1 month old) letter from employer on a letterhead addressed to the Embassy of Cyprus in China, in English or in Chinese with English translation, on official company paper with stamp, signature and date, and clearly mentioning the following: (a)Address, work telephone (land line only), fax number and contact persons of the company; (b)The name and position of the countersign officer; (c)Name, position, salary and years of employment of the applicant; (d)Approval for leave of absence; (e)The purpose and duration of the visit of the applicant; (f)Confirmation of position after the return; (g)The person or the entity who will bear the travel and living costs of the applicant.
- A sealed copy and translation in English of the Business Licence.
- For retired persons only: Proof of pension Proof of pension or other regular income and original retirement certificate (with a copy and English translation)
- For unemployed adults only: If married: Original letter of employment and income of the spouse and original Apostilled marriage certificate.
- If single/divorced/widow/widower: Any other proof of regular income.
- For students only (including minors): Letter from the school or University An original letter from the school or University (in English or Chinese with an English translation) addressed to the Embassy, clearly mentioning the full address and telephone number of the school, status/attendance and duration of the course of the applicant, permission of absence and name and function of the person giving the permission. A copy of the student card and an English translation.
- If the applicant is a minor, an unabridged birth certificate must be apostilled. Certificate of permission to travel When the minor is travelling with one parent only: Original passport and certificate of permission to travel from the parent, or legal guardian not travelling, clearly stating the passport number, destination, purpose of travel and time period for which the permission is granted. Minor is not allowing to travel alone. The Certificate of permission to travel must be signed and legalized at the Embassy of Cyprus in China. (when the parent is not in China, the Certificate of Permission needs to be attested by the relevant authorities in the country of residence).
- An all risk valid medical insurance policy (of at least €30.000-coverage) covering the whole duration of the stay in Cyprus must be submitted. No deductibles (no excess). If applicant’s current health insurance policy covers medical emergencies abroad, proof thereof is required in writing – copy of insurance card is not sufficient. Otherwise a traveler’s insurance policy will need to be purchased. A letter from the insurance company covering medical expenses, including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation (transportation) to the home country/country of residence, stating the name of the person, the policy number, the period of cover and the medical coverage.
- National passport ;(a) Valid for at least three months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for; (b) A copy of the passport, including first and last pages and all pages bearing visas or stamps; (c)if the applicant has an old passport, this needs to be presented as well (original and copy, including first and last pages and all pages bearing visas or stamps).
- ID Card (Copy of ID Card with English translation)
- Hukou (only for Chinese nationals) Copy of “Hukou” (all information pages) and English translation; And original residence permit, copy of this and translation in English, if different from Hukou. Foreign nationals who live in China must present the “Residence Permit of China” valid for at least six months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for.

Please note that the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Beijing (Visa Section) may in justified individual cases, request additional documents during the examination of an application which are not mentioned in the above list. The applicant is hereby informed that submitting the above-mentioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of a visa. In addition, the Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus retain the right to cancel, or reduce at the points of entry the duration of stay of any visa, informing the visa holder accordingly.
Photo specifications
Two [2] photographs of passport style and size [35mm x 45mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
- COLOR PHOTO (passport-size 35mm x 45mm)
- Photograph without specs.
- Face 70-80% of the height of the photo.
- taken without headgear
- head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
- taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.
Processing time
Schengen rules allow for a 15-calendar day processing time that may be extended up until 45 calendar days
